Village

For ages 0 to 18 months

Village is for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement.

Available Session(s):

  • Winter/Spring 2018
    Jan 23, 2018 through May 12, 2018

    Cock-a-doodle-Moo! — Hop on the hayride—it’s time to head for the farm! In this class, you will sing songs about the farm, including “Old MacDonald,” “Hayride,” and “Clever Cows.” You’ll engage in rituals and playful activities with your baby, including infant massage, lap bounces, exercise, and quiet time.

    Cock-a-Doodle-Moo! Monthly Mini Themes:

    • Lessons 1-4: You Are My Sunshine: We swoop up and we glide down; we stop and we go. Singing and moving to some childhood favorites as well as enjoying some new songs, we encourage and enjoy our little sunshines’ learning and development.
    • Lessons 5-8: Goin’ on a Hayride: We’re goin’ on a hayride visiting all kinds of places and animals on the farm. We listen for unique animals sounds, instrument sounds, and the sparkle and wonder of our children’s voices as they explore making their own of music.

    DewDrops — Stop and smell the roses—and lily of the valley, and tulips, and pansies. In this class, parents and babies will play and move together to songs about flowers, such as “Jasmine Flower,” “How Does Your Garden Grow?,” and “White Coral Bells.” You’ll also hear traditional Irish music, dance a jig and move to the “Irish Trot.”

    DewDrops Monthly Mini Themes:

    • Lessons 1-4: Down the Irish Trot: Dancing and singing to the songs of Ireland and England, we move and sing to teach our babies about high and low in pitch and movement. Hand-in-hand, we continue our travels through far off lands discovering steady beat – the underlying, regular pulse in music.
    • Lessons 5-8: All the Way to Galway: Follow-the-leader, partner dance, playing with instruments, and hide-and-go-seek all the way to Galway! We find all kinds of ways to experience duration (long and short), and tempo (slow and fast). When these babies are in Imagine That classes in a few years, these words become the musical terms of legato and staccato, lento and allegro.
